The Ivory Moore Community College, Workforce, Undergraduate & Graduate Scholarships


The submission deadline for all applicant materials is December 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.


The Ivory Moore Scholarships are named in honor of Dr. Ivory Moore, a retired Texas A&M University -- Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) educator and administrator and one of the founders of the Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE).

Scholarship Awards

  • Ivory Moore Community (2-YR) College Scholarship: $750 
  • Ivory Moore Technical/Workforce Scholarship: $750
  • Ivory Moore Undergraduate (4-YR) Scholarship: $1000
  • Ivory Moore Graduate Scholarship: $1000


Eligibility

  1. Must be a current student currently enrolled in a State of TEXAS, two-year, workforce, undergraduate, or graduate institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) (https://sacscoc.org) or (https://tracs.org).
  2. Must be a current full-time student (minimum 12 undergraduate hours/9 graduate hours/ 12 workforce/technical hours).
  3. Must have and maintain the following cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 GPA scale): 
  • Workforce/Technical GPA cumulative GPA – 2.50
  • Undergraduate cumulative GPA – 3.00
  • Graduate/Professional GPA – 3.50


    Application Procedures and Guidelines

    Please inform the person completing your reference letter to include in the applicant’s name/TABPHE 2024 Scholarship.

    1. Submit a current transcript from the university in which you are currently enrolled. Unofficial transcripts from the Registrar’s office are acceptable for the application process. If you are selected as one of the finalists within your category, you will be required to submit a copy of your official transcripts within 10 business days of notification by the Scholarship committee.
    2. Submit a one-page resume.
    3. Submit a current photograph in JPEG format. Professional headshots are preferred. However, a clearly formatted JPEG will be accepted. Please do not include an image with other individuals in the photograph.
    4. Submit one (1) recommendation letter in PDF and completed by an academic advisor, program director, department chair, graduate advisor, or faculty member by the December 30, 2022, deadline. The recommendation letter is submitted separately by the individual completing the reference to scholarships@tabphe.org. Please inform the person completing your reference letter to include in the Subject line: the applicant’s name/TABPHE 2024 Scholarship.
    5. Submit a typed, 500-word essay, saved as a PDF, addressing one of the following topics:
            • How do you support service and excellence in higher education as a student (or professional) in the 21st century?
            • How will receiving the Ivory Moore Scholarship contribute to the improvement of your academic and professional growth?
            • How will you promote and support TABPHE and its commitment to equitable opportunities and advancement of Black personnel in higher education?


    Application Deadline Completed applications must be emailed no later than December 30, 2023, at 11:59 pm, to scholarships@tabphe.org.

    Applications emailed after this date and time will not be considered for review by the Scholarship committee.
