The Austin Area TABPHE serves as a voice for Black faculty, staff, students and administrators in order to ensure a better educational system for all. TABPHE provides an avenue for professional development opportunities that enrich higher education personnel and improve the quality of their professional growth.
The Austin Area includes but is not limited to these institutions: Austin Community College, Huston-Tillotson University, University of Texas at Austin, St. Edwards University, Southwestern University, Texas State University, Concordia University, Texas Lutheran University.

Meeting like Minded People: To share and engage in conversation and implement solutions toward barriers that hinder black personnel in higher education.
Networking: To actively engage in network-building activities with local, state, and national organizations for the purpose of securing changes in laws and policies detrimental to our constituents.
Recruitment/Retention: To assist and serve our members, and the institutions where we work by establishing effective institutional programs to recruit and retain black personnel (professional staff & faculty), and students in higher education
Sharing Information: TABPHE and the Austin chapter encourages its members to educate college/university leadership about African-American faculty, staff and student recruitment & retention strategies.
