Mission
The Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE) is a statewide, voluntary educational association that represents all levels of higher education and serves as a voice for faculty, staff, students, and administrators working to ensure an engaging learning environment for all. The Association offers professional development opportunities designed to support the growth and advancement of higher education personnel.
Vision
The Association’s vision is to ensure that the higher educational system in the state of Texas provides opportunities and advancement for higher ed personnel while fostering a positive environment for students to successfully matriculate.
Philosophy and Objectives
The Association recognizes that higher education is strengthened by the wide range experiences and expertise of its professionals. By fostering collaboration, resilience, and innovation, it equips members to navigate and lead in changing academic environments. Emphasizing the value of individual contributions, the Association supports professional growth, institutional success, and the development of vibrant learning communities.
To assist colleges and universities in the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of faculty, staff, administrators, and students in alignment with institutional goals and state and federal guidelines.
To encourage cooperation among faculty, staff, administrators, and students to strengthen support systems that contribute to educational achievement.

To evaluate, promote, and assist in the development of academic and community-based programs that contribute to student success across institutions of higher education.

To raise awareness of academic and policy issues that influence institutional effectiveness in higher education.To serve as a forum for examining and communicating the viewpoints of various communities regarding education, opportunity, and institutional improvement.
To contribute to the advancement of effective academic programs and student services in secondary schools that prepare students for postsecondary education.
