TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF BLACK PERSONNEL IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Greetings…

As President of TABPHE, I bring you heart felt greetings on behalf of its esteem leadership and supporters. TABPHE is the premiere organization, focusing on all issues concerning Black professionals in higher education. Issues of equity and inclusion, access, and visibility remain at the forefront of the vision and mission of TABPHE. Having been in existence since 1973, the foundation of this organization remains firm, responding to the needs of professionals in both public, private, 2-year institutions, 4-year institutions and professional entities across the state of Texas. Our collective area of expertise in the broader scope of higher education spans various populations including graduate students, faculty, staff, and administration. The resonance of the impact of TABPHE can be felt across the state of Texas and beyond and we are grateful.

It is exciting and encouraging to witness how far, we, as an organization, have come. We are truly standing on the backs of those who came long before us (Ivory Moore, Erma Johnson Hadley, The Honorable Reby Cary). The insight, strength, wisdom, and vision of past leadership and followship, is what has modeled TABPHE into what it is today. Our organization is, indeed, filled with gifted and talented individuals. I am proud to be a member.

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, an honor to hold the torch in continuance of what leaders before me have started.  As President of TABPHE, I have been passed this torch and I pledge to be available to all state chapters and bring an arsenal of resources to ensure its success. I pledge to continue building on the foundation of superiority, in part, by learning from presidents from years past to be effective in all aspects of the organization. I pledge to carry the vision and continue the work needed in such a time as this. I am honored and humbled to have been chosen to serve this great organization at this appointed time.

As TABPHE continues to soar to new heights, we need YOU. We need each of YOU. Volunteerism is at the core of this premiere organization.  Your leadership, ideas, expertise, and energy are needed as we continue to raise this organization to a higher profile. The continued success of this organization starts with each of you. We need you and we need you now. It will be the collective efforts of all of us that will carry this organization for the next 50 years.

The greatest of the future lies in each of us as we “engage the past, celebrate the present, and fulfill the future.”
